Senior Research Analyst-Urban Planning

  • Assist Senior Specialist Urban Planning and Architecture and supervise the work of Research Associates.
  • Coordinate with other sectors task leads and Senior Research Analysts as required.
  • Research, analyze and synthesize data from primary and secondary sources.
  • Organize, clean, and analyze data.
  • Possess strong research and analysis skills on Cities and Regions.
  • Possess advanced urban planning expertise, supervise, and lead the team in planning and preparing project presentations.
  • Use Geographical Information Systems (GIS), SPSS and other software’s for statistical and graphical analysis and representation of data.
  • Review regulatory & governance framework and propose improvements.
  • Perform research, analyze data, and review literature, including policies, feasibility studies, existing documents such as master plans and best practices.
  • Prepare existing and future situation scenarios for Master Planning.
  • Conduct and compile project review presentations.

Qualification:

Research Analyst-Urban Planning

  • Assist the Senior Research Analyst (SRA) in conducting research, reviewing literature, and preparing policy, technical, and analytical documents.
  • Coordinate with Research Associates and provide supervision and guidance under the direction of the SRA.
  • Support in organizing, cleaning, and analyzing spatial and statistical data from both primary and secondary sources.
  • Contribute to the preparation of urban and regional planning reports, project proposals, and presentations.
  • Utilize software tools such as GIS, SPSS, Excel, and data visualization platforms for data analysis and graphical representation.
  • Help in reviewing and analyzing existing regulatory and governance frameworks and assist in formulating recommendations.
  • Assist in preparing existing and future situation scenarios, case studies, and benchmarking of international best practices for Master Planning and sustainable urban development.
  • Support the SRA in formulating sustainable city models and theoretical frameworks tailored to local contexts.
  • Compile and format materials for concept notes, working papers, and technical reports under the guidance of the SRA.
  • Participate in cross-sectoral coordination with other task leads and senior experts as required.
  • Undertake any other assignments or research activities as delegated by the Senior Research Analyst or Senior Specialist, Urban Planning and Architecture.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography, Public Policy, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in research, planning, or urban development projects.

Research Associate (RA) -Urban Planning

  • Perform research studies including literature, policies and review existing documents.
  • Prepare, maintain and update data of relevant sector.
  • Analyze data of related assignment.
  • Use Geographical information systems (GIS) and other software for statistical and graphical analysis of data.
  • Coordinate with Divisional and District level institutions/entities for collection of data and consultation.
  • Support management team in conducting workshops at various districts as required.
  • Assist in preparing research proposal, work plan, deliverables in timely professional manner.
  • Assist in formulation of existing and future scenarios of Master Plan.
  • Assist and coordinate with the task lead to carry out the relevant task.

Senior Research Analyst-GIS

  • Lead the collection, processing, and analysis of geospatial data for district-level land use planning.
  • Supervise the GIS work of junior analysts and coordinate with planning teams.
  • Develop thematic maps, spatial overlays, and analytical outputs to support land use recommendations.
  • Conduct spatial analysis for current and future land use scenarios using tools such as ArcGIS/QGIS.
  • Maintain and manage GIS databases, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Work with planning teams to integrate spatial findings into reports and presentations.
  • Assist in developing spatial components of policy recommendations and regulatory frameworks.
  • Liaise with local government departments for data sharing and validation.

Research Analyst-GIS

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preparation of spatial and non-spatial data.
  • Support in creating base maps, thematic maps, and spatial datasets using GIS software.
  • Coordinate with field teams and district-level institutions for data gathering and validation.
  • Perform basic spatial analysis and contribute to the development of land use scenarios.
  • Maintain GIS files, shapefiles, and databases with proper documentation.
  • Work under the guidance of the Senior Research Analyst to generate GIS outputs for reports.
